A note on safety
Editorial guidance, not medical advice.
- Patch test first. Apply a small amount of any new product to the inner forearm for 24–48 hours and watch for redness, itching, stinging, or breakouts before using on the face.
- Introduce one product at a time. Wait at least a week before adding another active so you can identify what helps — and what doesn't agree with you.
- Consult a dermatologist — ideally one experienced with skin of color — for persistent acne, melasma, eczema, keloidal scarring, or if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or using prescription topicals.
- Stop and seek care if you experience hives, swelling, sustained burning, or any reaction that doesn't settle within a day.
Not sure where to start? Speak with a board-certified dermatologist experienced in skin of color.
